Notice Title

Provision of Minor Adaptation and Essential Repair Works (republished)

Notice Description

West Sussex County Council works in partnership with the seven districts and boroughs across the county to deliver a minor adaptation service to our residents with disabilities. The aim of the service is to provide a speedy resolution to the challenges that our disabled residents face. Our occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants assess what residents need and make referrals straight to the service. We work on the principle that we will adapt or help with almost anything that makes their life easier, so this means we undertake a wide range of tasks. Our contractor might for example be replacing a carpet with vinyl for a resident who uses a wheelchair indoors, mending a leaking radiator or replacing a storage heater to keep them warm, forming half steps and providing eternal handrails to help them with access or widening a doorway. We might also put up a shelf for a resident to be able to move things from the floor where they are causing a trip hazard or providing a charging point for an electric wheelchair. We are looking to work with a contractor who is responsive to the needs of this vulnerable client group and will relish the chance to make a difference to their lives on a daily basis. We operate on a 'fix it first' time basis wherever possible but for those cases which might be more complicated we are happy to attend a site visit to confirm what the options are to overcome a specific challenge. The service covers the whole of the West Sussex County area, and the contractor will engage with occupational therapy teams, districts and boroughs and the County Adaptations Manager on a regular basis. The aim is to provide a positive and collaborative service between all the partners involved. We look forward to receiving your tender. Please see Document 2: Specification for further details. The full tender pack is available via our tendering portal here: https://atamis-7669.my.site.com/s/Welcome. This contract is for the use of WSCC and all District and Borough Councils within West Sussex.
