Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is currently in the planning stage of the procurement process for 'RFI0010 - Wilton Industry Show and Experiment for Mine Counter Measures WISEX', focusing on advanced detection apparatus for mines. Located in the South East of England, this initiative includes a critical engagement period with a deadline set for 2nd July 2021. The procurement aims to facilitate the Royal Navy's technological transition towards autonomous Mine Counter Measures, with planned trials taking place from September to October 2021 and resuming from March to September 2022.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in detection apparatus, bomb detectors, and industry-specific software packages. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be particularly well-placed to compete, as the project seeks to showcase innovative capabilities and support the case for inclusion in the broader Mine Counter Measures programme. Engaging in this procurement process could enhance industry visibility and contribute to long-term growth in the defence technology sector.

Notice Title

RFI0010 - Wilton Industry Show and Experiment for Mine Counter Measures WISEX

Notice Description

Most of you are aware of the Royal Navy's ambitious and ground-breaking transition towards autonomous Mine Counter Measures via MHC. This will be supported by WISE-X, which offers the opportunity to showcase exactly what your capabilities can do, and allow the case to be built for inclusion in the MHC programme down the line either in Block 2 or the perpetual spiral development that the "System of Systems" approach will allow us to embrace. Our revised plan is to undertake periods of DSTL assessed trials (similar to Weapon Practice Assessment) in the Clyde approaches in the September to October 2021 period, and then resume in March until September 2022, thereby avoiding the worst of the weather, but giving open windows for industry to demonstrate.
