Summary of the contracting process

Portsmouth City Council is currently inviting tenders for the "Traffic Signals Optimisation Programme (TSOP)", which involves upgrading traffic signals technology and related civil works at several junctions in Portsmouth, UK. This project is classified under the industry category of road traffic-control equipment and has a total contract value of £550,000. The procurement process is at the tender stage, with a closing date for expressions of interest set for 5th December 2016. The contract is anticipated to be awarded by April 2017, with works expected to commence in May 2017 and conclude by the end of August 2017.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in civil engineering and traffic management services, particularly those with expertise in traffic signal technology and associated construction work. Companies that can provide innovative solutions or alternative suppliers for specific technologies, like MOVA systems, may stand out during the procurement process. As this is a selective procurement method, collaboration between firms and the engagement of sub-contractors could also enhance the competitiveness of bids, particularly for those looking to expand their presence in the local government contracting sector.
