Summary of the contracting process

The General Medical Council (GMC) is currently seeking a training provider for an initiative focused on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) training, aimed primarily at new starters. The procurement process is at the tender stage, with submissions due by 5th August 2019. The successful provider will conduct approximately 30 workshops annually, primarily across their Manchester headquarters and some locations in London. The training services are classified under the education and training category (CPV code: 80000000), and the procurement method is an open procedure below the threshold.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialised in education and training services, particularly those with a background in specialist or technical training. Businesses that can offer innovative workshop formats and materials that support continuous learning on ED&I will be highly competitive. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to apply, as this contract specifically mentions suitability for smaller entities. Winning this contract could significantly boost growth by establishing a long-term relationship with a major public sector organisation.

Notice Title

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training

Notice Description

To support our ED&I Strategy we are seeking a training provider to deliver half day workshops aimed at new starters to the GMC with some follow up on-line, materials, to foster continuous learning on ED&I in their first year of working at the GMC. We want this training to move beyond awareness raising, engage staff in this area, and include a focus on personal action and accountability to ensure ongoing learning and development. This training will replace the previous half day workshop we have run for new joiners which was also delivered by an external provider (although it did not contain a focus on continuous learning). We expect that approximately 30 sessions (15 days) per year across London and Manchester sites would be required. Around 4 of these workshops will take place in London with the remainder in Manchester, which is our main base. We anticipate running two courses per day with approximately 12 delegates attending each session, although we would be open to alternative formats and group sizes.
