We have republished this SMT to seek additional feedback, any supplier that has already provided feedback does not need to resubmit their response. The Environment Agency has issued new guidance to Local Authorities regarding the disposal of materials containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). The guidance states: "Waste upholstered domestic seating containing POPs must not be: * Landfilled * Mixed with other non-POPs containing wastes * Re-used or recycled Waste upholstered domestic seating containing POPs must only be: * Sent for incineration, or * Used as a fuel in for example a cement kiln" Leicestershire County Council are running a Soft Market Testing exercise seeking information from the industry to help the Council determine how it should approach the treatment of the above material going forward.
