Summary of the contracting process

The Langport River Project, managed by Langport Town Council, is currently in the Tender stage, inviting proposals for the supply, delivery, and installation of Riverside Pontoons in Langport, Somerset. This procurement, listed under the goods category, has a budget of £40,000 and follows a direct procurement method through a single tender action, given it is below the specified threshold. The submission deadline for tenders is set for 21st September 2018, with the contract anticipated to commence on 1st April 2019 and conclude by 30th November 2019. The project primarily revolves around constructing leisure facilities, specifically creating eco-friendly pontoon systems to enhance local recreational activities along the River Parrett.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the construction and supply of leisure facilities, especially those experienced in using sustainable materials such as recycled plastics. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the construction sector, particularly those focused on marine or environmental projects, would find this opportunity well-matched to their capabilities. As the infrastructure will enhance the recreational appeal of the area, companies that can deliver innovative solutions for riverine installations are encouraged to participate, which could lead to ongoing partnerships with local authorities like Langport Town Council.
