Summary of the contracting process

The Metropolitan Police Service has contracted for the "Provision of Digital Forensics Capability", a service related to IT and public security. The contract is an interim arrangement due to the exit from a previous contracting agreement, with a value of £202,500. The procurement method used is a direct award via a single tender action below threshold, which was completed on 1st August 2021, and runs until 1st February 2023. The requirement is located in London, UK, and the procurement is currently in the Award stage.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) capable of providing digital forensics services, particularly those with expertise in technical compliance and criminal justice requirements. Suppliers who can ensure continuity of service with accredited solutions in a limited marketplace are well-suited to compete for future contracts following the interim arrangement. As the Metropolitan Police Service seeks to establish longer-term contracts, businesses prepared to engage in the upcoming competitive procedures will find advantageous prospects for growth and partnership.

Notice Title

Provision of Digital Forensics Capability

Notice Description

These contracts are brought about due to the exit from another contracting arrangement and are for an interim period of 18 months whilst the Contracting Authority looks to run a competition for longer term arrangements. The awards are carried out in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 ("PCR"), regulation 32(2)(b) for technical reasons. The contracts relate to suppliers to an exiting provider. The Authority requires continuing arrangements in respect of historical but ongoing forensic submissions and cases due to technical reasons relating to criminal justice requirements. In addition the number of contracts (as well as arrangements below EU threshold levels) represents good use of accredited (as appropriate) suppliers across this limited marketplace. A competition will be ran and awarded during the period of these contracts to put in place future arrangements for these services. Additional information: The awards will be carried out in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 ("PCR"), regulation 32(2)(b) for technical reasons. The contracts relate to suppliers to an exiting provider. The Authority requires continuing arrangements in respect of historical but ongoing cases and the volume of contracts (as well as low value arrangements) represents good use of available, accredited (as appropriate) suppliers across this marketplace. These arrangements will maintain business and marketplace continuity and are interim arrangements to allow for a competition following from an exit from a prior contract.
