Summary of the contracting process

The British Transport Police conducted a public procurement process for the "Level Crossing Offender Driver Retraining Scheme," aimed at providing retraining courses for drivers who have committed offences at level crossings. This service is classified under the 'Motor vehicles' industry category and is available across England, Wales, and potentially Scotland. The procurement method used was an open procedure, with the tender period ending on 16 July 2020. The contract commenced on 1 August 2020 and is scheduled to conclude on 31 July 2023.

This contract presents significant opportunities for training providers and educational institutions that specialise in driver retraining or road safety education. Businesses with experience in similar training courses, particularly those accredited by the National Association of Driver Intervention Providers (NADIP), would be well-suited to compete. With a growing focus on traffic safety, successful bidders are likely to benefit from ongoing demand for these services, thus fostering business growth in this sector.
