QU342 - REMIX Learning Log - digital media story telling commission
Notice Description
Birmingham City Council is looking for an organisation to bring together local artists and community representatives to create an Interactive Digital Media Storytelling, collecting voices of residents involved in the REMIX activities over the last two years and those who continue drawing an alternative vision of the area: - Organisers of the community events - Members of the Reservoir Consortium, - Directors of Eat and Make and Play and the ULG Coordinator, - as well as other residents who have been advocating for greater community engagement in planning processes and the meaning of community assets, i.e. Osler Park protests, Dreaming Tower Ballroom Project, Civic Square, etc. The purpose of this project is to show the ethnic and cultural diversity of the area and the richness of voices represented in the local community. It is particularly important to capture the voices of residents of B16 who feel proud of where they live and want to influence the future of their neighbourhood. These voices need to be added to the voices of Planners (BCC) and the local politicians to show the city's vision for this neighbourhood and what has been officially approved by the Cabinet (SPD, Master Plans). It is expected that at least 20 people will be interviewed for this project and digitally recorded (either in a form of short vox-pops or voice recordings with photographs) and used on the website to create the Digital Media Story Telling Project. It is desirable that the website includes a map of the area and shows the developments planned (Reservoir Master Plan, Ladywood Estate Regeneration Plan) and shows assets important for the community (Osler Park, Tower Ballroom, Civic Square, Ladywood Health and Community Centre, Eat and Make and Play building on St. Vincent Street). It is desirable the interviews capture residents emotional attachment to these assets, including history and personal relevance. The project needs to conclude before 31 December 2020; however, the Preferred Bidder will be asked to present the project's work in progress at the next Transfer Network Meeting on 20/21 of October. It is expected to have the graphic design and some interviews available to be presented verbally and digitally (if possible) in October. The Council will be using its free to use e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this procurement process and potential suppliers must register with the system to be able to express an interest.
