Summary of the contracting process

The University of Northumbria is seeking a partner to engage in the T17/3593 Digital Media project, aimed at developing prototype digital products for various clients in the North East of England. The contract is currently in the Award stage, having been completed on 22nd December 2017, with a contract value of £10,000. The contract period runs from 28th December 2017 until 30th September 2018. This open procurement process allows for new ideas and innovative design solutions in the IT services industry, specifically in software development and design consultancy.

This opportunity is well-suited for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those specialising in digital design and consultancy. Businesses that focus on creating software solutions, interactive media, and web development could significantly benefit from collaborating with Northumbria University, as they may gain access to new clients and projects while supporting the development of undergraduate talents. The project's collaborative nature encourages an environment for growth and the potential to expand into larger productions, making it an attractive prospect for creative agencies and consultants aiming to enhance their portfolios.

Notice Title

T17/3593 Digital Media

Notice Description

As part of Creative Fuse, Northumbria University is looking to partner with a Digital Design Agency or Consultant to create prototype digital products and pieces of communication for a variety of clients in the region. The clients and their project requirements are to be determined but they may include the creation of design specifications, demo websites, apps, animations, etc. with a view to potential full-production. The aim is to stimulate growth and generate new business for both the clients and partner agency. The University's contribution to the project will involve sixteen undergraduate interaction designers working in smaller teams on these projects. They will be supported by two lecturers with specialisms in interaction and digital design. We anticipate that the partner agency or consultant will work closely with the University's staff and students at discovery, definition, development and delivery phases of each project. Mentoring the student teams and sharing expertise will be an important part of partner agency's contribution. We anticipate four projects being started (a minimum of 2 and up to a maximum of 8 could be undertaken through negotiation). To support this, the partner agency or consultant will be working with 4 teams of 4 students. Each student is normally expected to contribute approximately 150 hrs, or 4 weeks, to the projects. The period for student involvement can be from early March until early May. The University is currently looking for suitable client partners though we would be happy to consider agency suggestions for clients too. We would prefer these suggestions to be new rather than established client partners for the agency. The Creative Fuse website provides more information about the interactive media design student projects. Northumbria University's website provides examples of previous student projects with industry.
