Free event for businesses operating in Cambridge: Fibnd out how your business can tackle poverty in Cambridge
Notice Description
Did you know that Cambridge is the most unequal city in the UK and there is a 10 year life expectancy gap between the richest and poorest areas in the city? Cambridge City Council is inviting all businesses that operate in Cambridge to a free event on 8th November on how you can help people in financial difficulty in the city. The event will be held between 5pm to 7:30pm at Westminster College in Cambridge. The event will be useful for businesses that are interested in ideas for developing Corporate Social Responsibility work tackling poverty in the Cambridge area. This could help to raise the profile of your business in the local community, whilst you support people in challenging situations or circumstances. We will also share how you can help tackle poverty through different employment practices. This event will be especially useful for businesses bidding for public sector contracts, as the Social Value Act 2012 is increasingly being used to require companies to demonstrate wider social and economic benefits to commissioners. The Leader of the Council, Cllr Lewis Herbert, will be chairing the event. There will be presentations from the Child Poverty Action Group, Cambridge City Council and the Living Wage Foundation.
