Notice Description

The National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool is based within the Hartlepool Marina area, which is around 1km north east Hartlepool Town Centre and very close to the main train station. The museum is based in the collection of buildings which are known as the Historic Quayside (or Historic Quay), which was purpose built as a museum in the mid-1990s NMRN have purchased the adjacent Vision Retail Park. The VRP comprises of seven units and 250 car parking spaces. The units include a large portal steel frame building with a glass frontage of 58,000ft2 (Units 1 to 4/5) There is an urgency to procure a professional team, part of this is the Exhibition Designers and it is for them to develop a priced RIBA Stage 2 concept design for the whole site by January 2025 to allow NMRN to consider the proposals and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) soon after. Subject to NLHF approval or otherwise NMRN will then move to prepare a NLHF Round 1 Application or if not successful reconsider its options. The remaining professional team is already being procured at the time of the PIN's release. The NMRN is hosting a Market Engagement Day at NMRN Hartlepool on Tuesday 15th October, which will allow the Project Team to discuss the project in detail, and visit the NMRN Historic Quay and Vision Retail Park where the New Naval Galleries will be situated.
