Notice Title
Bensham Manor School Refurbishment of Block EFAA
Notice Description
PSBP is a Department for Education (DfE) led programme addressing the building requirements of schools most in need of urgent repair across the country. Bensham Manor is a SEN secondary school where the children have a range of moderate learning difficulties, autism, behaviour needs and ADHD. The school has 225 pupils on roll as of the 2019/2020 academic year. The project involves the refurbishment of Block EFAA which covers the music classroom, music store, electrical intake cupboard and corridor. The GIFA is 117 sqm. The refurbishment works involve: * Strip off existing roof coverings and replacement with new flat roof coverings / system (incl; cable management, removal and infill of roof lights and flashing detail to retained blocks). * New down water pipework in existing locations. * New double-glazed windows with increased restrictor length for improved natural ventilation. * Internal soft strip with new ceilings, doors and frames, floor finishes and FFE (blinds, shelving etc.). * Redecoration of walls and skirting. * Fire stopping of service penetrations. * New electrical fittings with rewire and automatic detection controls. * New air source heat pump with interconnecting pipework. * New external perimeter planting to the south west elevation to prevent clashes with exposed windows. Block EFAA is a single storey light weight structure built in the 1960s. Block EFAA has a flat roof system and the facade is combination of plastic composite wall panels and single glazed windows. Block EFAA connects Block EFAB and EFAC which are built in the late 1800s / early 1900s. Following the successful completion of the Early Engagement Notice and subject to client approvals it is anticipated that the tender process will commence mid November 2020. Interested contractors who successfully pass the suitability assessment questions below will have three weeks to submit tender responses and there will be a two week evaluation and review process. The successful contractor will be notified and appointed under the DfE's PCSA and expected to develop the design from RIBA 02 to RIBA 04. It is anticipated that the works will be completed over a 12-week period in the Summer Holidays 2021. The contractor will be required to assist with the decanting of the block. The budget is anticipated to between PS160k and PS200k and will be procured on a design and build basis using the JCT 2016 D&B Contract incorporating DfE Schedule of Amendments. This early engagement notice will last for 7 working days. Interested contractors must register their interest via email to Elliot Tarling with a covering paragraph answers to the following questions: 1) Provide two case study examples of similar projects completed within the last three years? 2) Provide details of your project pipeline for the next 12 months and confirm your capacity to deliver this project? 3) Briefly explain how you would resource this project through the design and construction phases?
