This project will study the potential impact of climate change on the need for cooling in buildings in the UK. The main objectives of this project are as follows: * improve the evidence base for the current and future cooling demand in both domestic and non-domestic buildings and make long term projections (to 2100) of heating and cooling demand using climate projections; * assess the associated energy consumption of cooling and its impact on peak electricity demand, nationally or more locally and the potential impacts of future demand; * gather evidence of current, and innovative, cooling measures including passive measures such as shading and ventilation and active measures such as air-conditioning; and * explore the synergies of cooling with other sectors, such as the decarbonisation of heating with heat pumps. This research project will be procured through the Heat Networks and Electricity Generation Assets (HELGA) dynamic purchasing system. This will be run through HELGA Service 1 - Energy Advisory, Design and Technical Services (Advisory) under the following filter: * Energy efficiency in buildings Full details of this requirement will be shared with appointed HELGA suppliers when the competition launches.
