Summary of the contracting process

King's College London is procuring out-of-hours telephone counselling services aimed at enhancing mental health support for students. The tender, titled "KCL - 00001267 Out of Hours Telephone Counselling," falls under the services category, specifically focused on guidance and counselling (CPV code 85312300). The procurement process is currently active and follows an open procedure, with a tender deadline set for 25 August 2020. The contract will commence on 21 September 2020 and is expected to run for three years, concluding on 20 September 2023. Interested bidders should note that the service will operate mainly in London, with a minimum contract value of £300,000 and a total value of £360,000.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in mental health services, counselling, and call centre operations. Suppliers who can deliver flexible and accessible mental health support—particularly those with experience in remote counselling and supporting diverse student populations—would be well-positioned to compete. Given the nature of the services required, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may find this opportunity particularly advantageous, allowing them to expand their reach and impact in the educational sector.

Notice Title

KCL - 00001267 Out of Hours Telephone Counselling

Notice Description

We are looking to supplement in-house Counselling and Mental Health Support provision with out-of-hours support for students (via self-referral routes); and ongoing telephone, online and video counselling (for students referred by Counselling and Mental Health Support). We recognise that some students will wish to access such support out of hours (or from different time zones), and that such a service will provide a helpful complement to King's based provision. On this point, a June 2019 Review of Counselling and Mental Health Service at King's College London noted that "the expectations of 'Generation Z' student (aka digital natives) are relevant" King's intends to let a contract for these services for a period of 3 years. Additional information: The tender is for telephone and online out of hours mental health support for students. tender documents can only be accessed online through the university's e-tendering portal, In-tend: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/aboutkings/orgstructure/ps/procurement/suppliers/etender Is a Recurrent Procurement Type? : No
