Notice Title

Human - led evidence base to physical activity

Notice Description

Led by Public Health through a system-wide lens, Cornwall is in the processes of reviewing its overall approach to how it might go about addressing the enduring and systemic challenge of physical inactivity with particular emphasis on underrepresented groups. Our approach is being led by the principles of Human Learning Systems (Human Learning Systems). We need to be able to make collective choices around where to focus efforts and resources to influence levels of physical activity at a population scale level. In order to help make those choices, we need to establish a solid picture of our residents, our communities and our places. The insight and learning generated from this work will help inform both the overall strategic direction for physical activity for Cornwall alongside Active Cornwall's new strategy (lead strategic agency for physical activity in Cornwall). We anticipate this work will sit alongside other key pieces of evidence base (e.g. Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), Population Health Management work) in addition to linking with other key strategic documents and policies across the place. In addition to a hard, physical output we are also asking that any successful provider works alongside the people locally who work within the system who are interested in being a part of this work - in effect setting up connections and relationships and helping us to build trust and confidence with people in places in order that our work is continually informed and refreshed by evidence and learning, especially from those with lived experience. In effect, we are as much interested in how we go about generating the insight and evidence as we are what emerges from the work.
