Siemens Mobility is currently looking for potential suppliers of Interior Lighting, for its new train designed for the Deep Tube Upgrade Programme (DTUP). Project key data: Customer London Underground Limited Scope for Piccadilly line Base order 94 trains 9-cars trains Amount of components: 14964 pieces Delivery period: 2021 until 2026 Delivery frequency: up to 4 trainsets per month Interior height: 2m Prototypes for two cars to be provided Interior Panelling: The system includes the components of the central ceiling elements, side ceiling elements, gapfiller elements and air-conditioning side profile The raw material of the panels is aluminum Siemens is responsible for the presented concept and engineering The supplier is responsible for execution/manufacturing, means i.e. fire resistance, paint adhesion, bonding adhesion, welding qualification Component requirements: Supplied by DC 110 V +25% -30% All PCB's 100.000 hours @L70B10, flicker free, ESD protected Center ceiling linear lights, fed by two regular circuits, each switchable to emergency level Vestibule halo circular lights, fed by one regular circuit, switchable to emergency level, additional battery pack included, additional input for switching off battery All LED's to fulfill 3 SDCM over lifetime, highest efficacy >200lm/W, and protected Electrolytic capacitors & potentiometers are forbidden Inrush current limited to 5x nominal current LED-Driver include a constant light output over lifetime circuit, with short circuit, overload, reverse polarity protection Input for emergency recognition, switches to 50 lx in the car, even if half the circuit fails All lights shall be Type tested & measured in light and color reg. Supplier requirements / Must Haves Certification IRIS rev. 3.0 (alternative acc. with DIN EN ISO 9001) EMAS or ISO 14001 Ready for internal Auditing Compliance with the employment of minority requirements Solid experiences in Railway Industrie IF applicable to offered design: welding certification EN 15085 / ISO 3834 IF applicable to offered design: bonding certification DIN 6701 About the buyer: About the Deep Tube Upgrade Programme: Siemens Mobility Limited has signed a contract with London Underground Limited (a subsidiary of Transport for London) to design and manufacture 94 new generation of Tube trains to replace the existing 1970s fleet. *Ninety four new trains to replace the 1970s-built Piccadilly line fleet *New trains will be more spacious, air-conditioned, have walk-through carriages and improve accessibility *Additional capacity and improved customer experience for millions of passengers *The contract will facilitate a multi-million pound investment in a factory in Goole, East Yorkshire, creating thousands of UK jobs The current trains are old, increasingly unreliable and expensive to maintain. From 2023, new spacious 'Inspiro London' trains will be delivered for testing on the Piccadilly line, with current estimates indicating the first of these trains will be serving customers in 2024. These will improve reliability and enable increased frequencies during peak times by the end of 2026 (up from 24 to 27 trains-per-hour). This service - a train every 135 seconds at the busiest times - will help to address crowding on the line as London's population continues to rise. The state-of-the-art Tube trains will significantly improve the experience of millions of customers, with wider doors and longer, walk-through, fully air-conditioned carriages. In addition, in-train information systems will help all customers plan their onward journey more easily. The initial order is for 94 trains and an associated Fleet Services Agreement covering the supply of spares and whole life technical support (a value of approximately PS1.5bn). This has been awarded with the expectation that Siemens Mobility will build trains for all four Deep Tube lines - the Piccadilly, Bakerloo, Central and Waterloo & City.
