Cambridge City Council are looking to procure design and installation package for inventive outdoor street furniture and creative external lighting within Cambridge's historic core, which would enhance the day and night-time economy and attract visitors back to the city after the lifting of coronavirus pandemic restrictions. The Work Package forms a substantial part of several initiatives which are being made possible by a Local Growth Fund grant to support the recovery of Cambridge city centre from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, due for implementation in June 2021. Vision (and values): The city is recognised as a "great place to live, learn and work" which is at the forefront of policies which care for the planet and promote "economic dynamism and prosperity combined with social justice and equality." It takes seriously its commitment to tackle the local and global threat of climate change, both internally and in partnership with local organisations and residents and to minimise its environmental impact by cutting carbon, waste, and pollution. To attract footfall back to Cambridge's iconic historic centre, its retail, hospitality and cultural sectors, street design improvements are being sought with a cohesive, bespoke theme which should add to and strengthen upon these values, its unique architectural heritage, and reputation for innovation as a large cluster of high-tech businesses. It is intended whole life-cycle approaches will act as reference points for the design process. Provision should be allowed for the manufacturing of products that have an 'infinite life' through refurbishment, which can be reused and re-sited elsewhere in the city - for example, as with community parklets on residential streets. The deliverables need to be integrated and interoperable between all key elements of the scheme. Combined bids will be considered. Expressions of interest are sought from organisations who have delivered innovative projects for enhancement of city areas designed to make Cambridge a destination of choice. To register your interest please visit the e-tendering portal Proactis https://procontract.due-north.com and upload an A4 page brief of previous experience this could be supported with photographic evidence or case studies. This project includes elements of services, works and supplies and interested parties should be able to supply/resource across these three requirements. Additional information: The issue of this PIN is to allow for shortened timescales during the open procurement process and is likely to result in a ten day submission period. Cambridge City Council will be holding a webinair to provide additional detail on the scope of the project this is likely to be early in March dates will be published on the e-tendering portal as soon as they are available, you are encouraged to book your place as soon as the dates become available.
