Summary of the contracting process

Glasgow City Council is planning a tender for the "Repairs and Maintenance for Heavy Vehicles" project, classified under services, specifically related to the repair, maintenance, and associated services of vehicles and related equipment. This procurement process falls under the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for the category covering heavy vehicles over 7.5 tonnes, with a procurement initiation date of 1st April 2022. The tender is currently at the planning stage, with key services required including preventative maintenance and repair for an ageing fleet that includes refuse collection vehicles and articulated units. The council's operations primarily involve diesel vehicles, with a transition toward electric and hydrogen alternatives anticipated. Interested suppliers should note the procurement method will facilitate ongoing applications for this lot and are encouraged to register on the Public Contracts Scotland Tendering portal.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in vehicle maintenance and repair, particularly those capable of providing services for heavy vehicles and adapting to newer fuel technologies. Companies experienced in servicing refuse collection trucks, articulated lorries, and heavy plant equipment would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. The right supplier will also need to offer services close to Glasgow City to ensure efficiency and compliance with the council's operational requirements. By participating in this procurement process, suppliers can not only secure a valuable contract but also forge a long-term partnership with Glasgow City Council, helping boost their market presence in the region.
