Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, initiated by Norfolk County Council, focuses on the title "On Street Electrical Vehicle Charging Points" within the industry category of goods, specifically related to chargers. This planned tender is aimed at establishing electric vehicle charge points in residential areas, and the council is seeking private sector funding to cover portions of the capital cost not funded by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles. Potential bidders are encouraged to register on the council's e-procurement system, with discussions about commercial strategies and potential contracts scheduled for later in August or early September 2021.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the electric vehicle infrastructure sector, particularly those specialising in charging solutions, vehicle refuelling services, and associated technologies like token meters. Companies with the capacity to engage in concession contracts or match-funding agreements, as well as those with a strong operational presence and supply chains in the area of Norwich, would be well-positioned to compete. Participation could not only lead to direct revenue through contract awards but also foster long-term partnerships with local authorities in the growing sector of sustainable transport solutions.
