Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is seeking suppliers for the provision of a Defence Air Passenger Services System (DAPSS), a substantial opportunity valued at £11 million. This procurement process is currently in the Tender stage, with submissions due by 9 May 2022. Potential bidders are required to register their interest through an e-Tendering system, with further details available on the Defence Sourcing Portal. The DAPSS will support military air transportation, managing the scheduling, reservation, and handling of approximately 200,000 passengers annually from various locations across the UK.

This contract presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in passenger terminal operation services and software development specific to aviation needs. Companies that provide Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products and possess expertise in airline reservation systems or departure control systems are particularly well-suited to compete. Given the high cyber risk associated with this procurement, firms with robust security clearances and capabilities to manage sensitive data will have a competitive advantage in the selection process.
