Notice Description

Newport City Council's Private Sector Housing Adaptations Service operates an Approved List of Contractors (ALC) from which it invites tenders for contracts of work for individual, privately owned and occupied domestic dwellings. Individual contracts are awarded (on a case by case basis) against individual properties - this is not a framework agreement The numbers of contractors included in each category of the ALC will be determined by annual service demand and budget. Numbers are intentionally limited, however, not only to ensure the ongoing process of administering the ALC is manageable - but also to help develop and maintain more effective partnership working Housing Services does not guarantee that contractors on the ALC will receive invitations to tender as this is dependent on (i) budget (ii) demand for adaptation works in any financial year (iii) number of contractors included within the category for rotation This Approved List of Contractors will cover works below 50,000 GBP only

Lot Information

General Building Works

This Lot is for any general building works we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Provision of an adapted (ramped) access to a domestic (occupied) property - Groundwork preparation for external platform lifts to a domestic (occupied) property - Structural alterations e.g. door widening within a domestic (occupied) property - Provision of a ground floor WC within a domestic (occupied) property - Provision of a bathroom and/or bedroom extension to a domestic (occupied) property - Loft conversion within a domestic (occupied) property Any works that may cause any issues to water/electrics/gas are expected to be dealt with on an emergency basis (within 24hrs of knowing of the issue). This would require the supplier to agree to emergency call out's within the PQQ in order to pass onto selection stage. The call out period would be expected for a period of twelve months following completion.

Plumbing & Heating

This Lot is for any Plumbing & heating we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Bathroom adaptations (provision of level access shower / wetroom within a domestic (occupied) property - Install/extend a domestic heating system within an occupied property Any works that may cause any issues to water/electric/gas are expected to be dealt with on an emergency basis (within 24hrs of knowing of the issue). This would require the supplier to agree to emergency call out's within the PQQ in order to pass onto selection stage. The call out period would be expected for a period of twelve months following completion

Internal Stairlifts

This Lot is for any Internal stairlifts we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Supply & fit a straight internal stairlift (only Stannah or Thyssen will be specified) to a domestic (occupied) property. To include a two-year parts & labour guarantee. - Supply & fit a curved internal stairlift (only Stannah or Thyssen will be specified) to a domestic (occupied) property. To include a two-year parts & labour guarantee. Any stairlift that is fitted by the suppliers that malfunctions are expected to be dealt with on an emergency basis (within 24hrs of knowing of the issue). This would require the supplier to agree to emergency call out's within the PQQ in order to pass onto selection stage. This Lot is for any External platform lifts we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Supply & fit an external platform lift (Terry Lift only) to a domestic (occupied) property. To include a two-year parts & labour guarantee. The call out period would be expected for a period of two years following completion.

Through Floor Lift

This Lot is for any Through floor lifts we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Supply & fit a through-floor lift (only Wessex or Terry or similar approved will be specified) within a domestic (occupied) property. To include a two-year parts & labour guarantee. The call out period would be expected for a period of two years following completion.

Stock straight stairlifts

This Lot is for any Stock straight stairlifts we may require in relation to this tender. Newport City Council currently holds a stock of six stairlifts with the current supplier and will require the purchase of additional reconditioned lifts from time to time. Upon instruction, we would need the stock lift to be installed within three days. As part of this award, if the supplier is to be appointed they would need to arrange with the incumbent supplier to arrange collection of stairlifts already owned by NCC that is being stored on their behalf.

Lift repairs service

This Lot is for any stairlift, through floor lift and external platform lift repairs service we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Call-out, fault-find and repair to an existing lift (to predominantly Stannah & Thyssen models) using genuine component parts We would require same day attendance to repair the lift.

External modular Ramping

This Lot is for any External modular ramping we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Supply & fit modular ramping to provide wheelchair access to a domestic property The Specification required for the installing of External modular ramping is as follows; - Galvanised steel with suitable support frame - Hatch sections available for access to ground services - Continuous galvanised handrail - Kerb 100mm high - Load tested to satisfy BS 4592 and 6399 - Multi directional slip resistance to satisfying BS7976

Asbestos Surveys

This Lot is for any Asbestos surveys we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - To provide a 'Management Survey With Part Refurbishment' report in respect of domestic disabled adaptation works to individual owner/occupied properties. NB: NCC will require the survey to be undertaken and a report received within 10 working days (subject to access availability).

Architectural Services

This Lot is for any Architectural services we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - To prepare plans to support Planning and Building Regulations (Full Plans) applications in respect of extensions (bedroom/wetroom) to individual owner/occupied properties. NB: NCC will require the survey to be undertaken and plans produced with 10 working days (subject to access availability).

Structural Engineers

This Lot is for any Structural engineers we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - To provide design and structural calculations in respect of domestic disabled adaptation works to individual owner/occupied properties (e.g. retaining walls; foundation/lintel/beam design). NB: NCC will require the survey to be undertaken and a report/calculations received within 10 working days (subject to access availability).

Window and Door Fitters

This Lot is for any Window and Door Fitting's we may require in relation to this tender and example of works we would ask you to carry out are listed below; - Fitting of window's in domestic setting - Fitting of level threshold doors to ensure wheelchair accessibility in a domestic setting. - Must be FENSA Certified or equivalent.
