Summary of the contracting process

The Imperial War Museums is planning a tender titled "IWM/2223/Exh/3088 - Spies Temporary Exhibition Build - Principal Contractor" in the construction works category. The exhibition, "Spies, Lies & Deception," is set to open in late September 2023 at IWM London. The procurement stage is currently planned, with the tender documents expected to be issued at the end of March. The exhibition will be a multimedia display showcasing the museum's collection, occupying three special exhibition galleries. The total contract value is £220,000, and the communication of the future notice date is set for the 19th of May 2023.

This tender provides an opportunity for principal contractors experienced in construction works for exhibition buildings. Businesses with expertise in museum services and a track record in similar projects would be well-suited to compete. The successful contractor will need to undertake various tasks such as fabrication and installation of exhibition setworks, display cases, electrical and data installations, along with demolition after the exhibition closure. Considering the complexity of the project and the need to work on-site while the museum remains open, contractors must ensure minimal disturbance to other activities. Potential bidders should be prepared to share areas with museum staff and follow specific guidelines outlined in the tender documents to deliver the project successfully.
