Summary of the contracting process

NHS Supply Chain is establishing a non-exclusive dynamic purchasing system for food-to-go products supplied to NHS Trusts and other eligible healthcare customers across the UK. The requirement covers patient feeding solutions and café retail feeding concepts, including prepared and filled sandwiches, salads, snack pots, cakes, pastries, pies, pizza, street food, desserts, ice cream, chilled and frozen drinks, grab-and-go food and branded equipment linked to included food brands. Suppliers may apply for either or both categories and must meet the mandatory criteria for the category concerned. This is primarily a goods supply opportunity, covering food, beverages and related products (CPV 15000000), with NHS Supply Chain as the buying organisation and NHS customers as the main end users.

The procurement has been awarded through a restricted procedure using a dynamic purchasing system. Six original lots covering patient and retail feeding for named NHS trusts were cancelled, but subsequent awards are active. Awards were made to Tiffin Sandwiches, On a Roll Sandwich Company, Raynor Foods, Anchor Catering, Samworth Bros and Lime Tree Foods for NHS trusts across England. Active contract values range from £134,000 for Solent NHS Trust to £3,844,000 for a four-trust Midlands collaboration; signed dates run from 14 October 2024 to 13 July 2026. The DPS has a minimum seven-year term, with applications accepted until 20 September 2030, and an estimated value of £78,831,476. Evaluation used financial, product, quality, questionnaire and social-value criteria, with weightings varying by lot.

NHS Supply Chain: Food sought to establish a non-exclusive DPS Agreement for the supply of Food To Go to NHS Supply Chain: Food's customer base via the Direct Route covering products including but not limited to: Patient Feeding Sandwiches, Salads, and Snack pots. Retail Sandwiches, Salads, Sandwich Fillings, Cakes, Street Food, Snack pots, pies, pastries, pizza, frozen desserts & ice cream, chilled & frozen drinks, grab & go food, branded equipment linked to food brands included in DPS. The DPS will be in place for a minimum of 7 years with an approximate spend of PS78,831,476m and will be the main procurement route for NHS Trusts Food To Go requirements. The DPS is open for applications until 20 September 2030 as a minimum. The DPS is divided into 2 categories of products and Applicants may apply to be included on any or all of the product categories. The categories under the DPS are as follows: Category 1 - Patient Feeding Solutions Category 2 - Cafe Retail Feeding Concepts Applicants will only be accepted to categories they have applied for if they pass all mandatory criteria within the DPS award process.
