Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, acting through the UK Health Security Agency, involves the acquisition of a "Replacement MSC III," classified under the CPV code for laboratory, optical and precision equipment. The main procurement focus is on goods, with the equipment being delivered to the UKI32 region. The procurement stage is currently at contract award, and the procurement process executed was open, contributing to flexibility and broad competition. The contract was signed on the 16th of January 2026, with a contract period of 60 days. It involves a modification of the contract value due to unforeseen circumstances that a diligent contracting authority could not have anticipated.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in laboratory and optical equipment to engage with a major government agency. The frameworks involved in the procurement, especially the open procedure, are designed to maximise supplier participation, benefitting small and medium enterprises as demonstrated by the successful award to WOLF LABORATORIES LIMITED, a SME. Businesses in the industry that have the capacity to deliver high-quality laboratory equipment swiftly would be well-positioned to leverage this and similar opportunities, aiding in growth and expansion through substantial government contracts.
