Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency (NSS) has extended its contract titled "Fleet Management System" under Regulation 72(1)(b). This extension, awarded to Civica UK Limited, is for a period of 12 months starting from 1st October 2024 and will run until 30th September 2025. The contract, valued at £401,000, involves IT services including consulting, software development, Internet, and support specifically for managing the fleet of 3500 vehicles used by 15 NHSS Boards across Scotland. The procurement category is services, and this extension will ensure the continuity of fleet compliance and maintenance activities. The procurement stage is at the contract update and award stage.

This extension offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specializing in IT services within the public sector. Companies with expertise in fleet management systems, especially those capable of integrating with existing infrastructures and ensuring legal compliance, stand to benefit. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) like Civica UK Limited, which already hold the contract, demonstrate that smaller firms with specialised skills and established relationships can effectively compete and succeed in such procurement processes. The continuity of services ensures operational stability, making it a strategic opportunity for businesses aiming to partner with public health organisations.
