Summary of the contracting process

Southwark Council is planning a procurement exercise to implement a catering services framework for nursery, primary, and secondary schools within the London Borough of Southwark. This process, currently in the planning stage, aims to improve the nutritional quality of school meals, tackle inequalities, and enhance social value through job creation and environmental sustainability. The estimated potential sales value of the framework is £4 million over a four-year period. This initiative is classified under CPV code 55524000 for school catering services and covers an estimated annual market value of £8.3 million for primary and £5.3 million for secondary schools. The future notice date for further details is 10th January 2025, and the procurement will be conducted via the Jaggaer e-sourcing system.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for catering service providers, especially those capable of delivering high-quality and consistent school meals while adhering to social value principles, including job creation and sustainability. Businesses with experience in school catering or similar large-scale service delivery within the public sector will find this framework particularly suitable. The framework enables potential suppliers to secure long-term contracts over a four-year period, potentially enhancing their market presence and financial stability through consistent and scheduled engagements with numerous schools across Southwark. Furthermore, the need for compliance with the London Living Wage and sustainability efforts makes it attractive to socially responsible enterprises.
