The system provides invaluable information for clinicians in the monitoring and planning of patient's cancer treatment. Varian Medical Systems provide 24/7 maintenance and support for the RISOH system. If this system is not supported and maintained there would be a significant risk to patients' welfare and no electronic method of recording the patient's cancer journey. Business Services Organisation previously direct awarded PS624,777 to Varian for for RISOH Support and maintenance. It is our intention to complete a further Direct Award to the value of PS550,000 (exclusive of VAT). We wish to enter into a Contract until 31st March 2029. It is expected that there will a replacement system in place by the 31st March 2029.",

Due to the complexity of the system, there are no other providers who could provide this system within the time frame. Replacing the system or support contract would lead to a risk to patient safety. The system is due to be replaced by the end of this Contract. We wish to reply on schedule 5 section 5 (a) due to Varian having the intellectual property rights. They are the only supplier able to provide the services.",
