Procurement of Metrology Lab Equipment

Notice Description

Velindre University NHS Trust is undertaking the procurement of Metrology Lab Equipment, which will be directly installed into the new facility. The procurement covers the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a comprehensive metrology system capable of producing a wide range of radiation fields for calibration and testing of radiation protection instruments. The equipment will be installed in a purpose-built suite within the nVCC, and the supplier must work collaboratively with the Trust.

Planning Information

Velindre NHS Trust require a system capable of undertaking the following tests: - calibration of radiation dosemeter and radioactive contamination meters - Overload testing of Radiation Protection instruments - Calibration of Gaf Chromic film - Material attenuation coefficient testing - Calibration of TLDs - Development work requiring availability of a versatile X-ray source - The equipment will need to deliver a highly controlled radiation beam generated at between 40 and 150 kVp with a range of radiation filtration options. The above list is not exhaustive and additional tests may, or may not be required. In person stakeholder events will take place January 30th 2026 to seek the view of the market on the requirement and to allow Procurement Services and Velindre NHS Trust to seek advice in the planning and conduct of the procurement. The confirmed date for our supplier date is 30th January following receipt of expressions of interest all details will be sent to you. Suppliers will be provided with further insight into the requirement and given the opportunity to ask questions. Further details on the engagement sessions will be shared following receipt of expressions of interest sent to Sian.Head2@wales.nhs.uk. Please confirm by Friday 23rd January if you require any materials in the medium of the Welsh Language. Suppliers should note that this engagement event, including any other soft market sounding in relation to this proposed procurement, may not necessarily lead to a formal procurement and/or award of any contract(s). Any information provided by suppliers during this engagement event may be used by Velindre NHS Trust to scope the proposed procurement/requirement and may also be shared widely with other potential bidders. Participants are advised not to share any confidential information and/or any information they would not wish to be shared more widely. NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership and Velindre NHS Trust accept no liability for any costs incurred by suppliers as a result of attending these events.
