Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the Lee Valley White Water Centre Bridge Repairs was initiated by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, based in Enfield, United Kingdom. The tender commenced with the planning stage in May 2025 and transitioned into the tender phase shortly thereafter. The project focused on repair and maintenance work related to sports facilities and footbridge construction, falling under the 'works' category. The procurement method was an open competition, below the financial threshold, allowing more businesses to participate. Key milestones included a tender submission deadline on the 10th of June 2025, with the contract work period set from the 1st of August to the 10th of October 2025.

This tender presented substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in construction and maintenance, particularly those adept in bridge repairs and protective coating work. McLoughlin Decorating Ltd, a large supplier based in Enfield, was awarded the contract, demonstrating the viability for substantial businesses to secure similar tenders. The focus on repair and maintenance not only addresses current wear and tear but could offer long-term partnership opportunities within public authority projects. The suitability criteria were accommodating to SMEs, opening doors for them to gain competitive experience and potentially expand their capabilities and portfolio in the public procurement sector.

Notice Title

Provision for Lee Valley White Water Centre Bridge Repairs

Notice Description

The Authority has a requirement for the repair and painting of 3 x bridges at The Lee Valley White Water Centre. The bridges are suffering from the normal effects of wear and tear and need some miscellaneous repairs. Some of the paintwork on and under all of the bridges looks jaded, and in certain areas is missing or flaking. This in turn has led to certain areas of bare metal interacting with the elements, such as wind / rain / splashes from the white-water course, and some rusting has started to occur.
