Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement contracting process titled "150_25 Pest Control Products and Services" is conducted by Leicestershire County Council, trading as ESPO, a public authority within sub-central government in the UK. This initiative forms part of a national framework for pest control, covering a broad scope involving proactive, reactive, and emergency pest control services. The procurement aims to replace an existing framework and began with a planning stage progressing through tender to currently being under the award phase. Key dates include the contract start set for 26 November 2025, and it is due to run until 25 November 2028, with an extension option available up to 2029. The open procedure procurement method was employed to select suitable suppliers and services across UK regions, aligning with regulations under the Procurement Act 2023. The process has been finalized and contracts were signed on 19 December 2025, with several SMEs playing a pivotal role as suppliers.

This tender represents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for firms specialising in pest management services and chemical products such as rodenticides and insecticides. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) stand to benefit significantly due to the framework's design which invites a competitive selection process suitable for such businesses. The open procedure ensures equal opportunities for participation without regional restriction, promoting extensive business engagement across various UK sectors, including local authorities, educational establishments, and emergency services. This framework encourages competition, fostering innovation and efficiency while enabling suppliers to solidify their market position in the public sector. Businesses capable of delivering high-quality pest control solutions on a national scale, including emergency and routine management, will find this an invaluable opportunity to expand their reach and impact.
