Summary of the contracting process

The Apex Housing Association, a public authority operating under Northern Irish devolved regulations, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for their Digital Communications Transformation Project. This initiative aims to replace and upgrade life safety and building communication systems across 36 sites, including sheltered housing schemes, flats, hostels, community centres, and various commercial units. Located in Londonderry, UK, the procurement process is directed towards the building installation works category, with key systems such as fire alarms, intercom equipment, and security systems involved. The current phase is a pre-market engagement exercise, scheduled until 12 June 2025, to gather market insights that will aid in shaping a forthcoming tender. Interested suppliers are encouraged to participate by completing the questionnaire available through eTendersNI.

This tender represents an outstanding opportunity for suppliers specialising in security systems, communication infrastructure, and building installation services to engage in a substantial public sector project. Businesses that offer innovative solutions in the technological upgrade of life safety and communication systems stand to benefit significantly. The Apex Housing Association's focus on comprehensive site upgrades suggests a substantial contract potential, suitable for established firms with proven capabilities in handling complex, multi-location projects. Engaging in this process could not only provide direct contract opportunities but also position businesses favourably for future collaborations with similar public authorities.
