Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS) are a key threat in modern conflict. To understand the current maturity in the application of Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) technology against this threat, UK MOD is seeking companies to submit proposals for the following: * LDEW system (effector, power, cooling, sensor) to destroy small UAS at ranges of 1km+ * Availability to deliver within 12 months ideally * System to be hosted on a land vehicle platform * UK system content to be declared - 50% by value and above expected * Total budget up to PS20M for multiple systems * Collaboration between industry partners to form a solution welcomed Testing range/facilities to be provided by government, as a demonstration of systems would be required as part of any procurement.
Planning Information
This notice is for the Authority to understand the current state of the market of LDEW systems in the land environment. The description is deliberately high level and outcome based, so as not to unduly limit the use cases or technologies to which responses might refer. The Authority wishes to understand the current maturity, performance, cost, and availability of LDEW systems to be operated in counter UAS roles. The authority intends to hold 1-2-1 sessions with interested suppliers who hold the appropriate level of security clearance between 16/06/2025 – 11/07/2025, however there may be scope to hold a market engagement day dependant on the level of response received from interested partied. Should you be interested in these requirements, please contact FMC-StratProgs-CWDEW-Group@mod.gov.uk This notice is solely for the purpose of engaging the market to gather information. It does not constitute a call for competition or form part of any formal procurement process. Participation in this engagement will not confer any advantage or disadvantage in any future procurement, nor will it bind the Authority to proceed with any specific course or action.
