Summary of the contracting process

Rutland County Council is inviting bids for its "Treatment of Food Waste" tender, under the public authority sub-central government classification. This open competition tender involves the receipt, processing, and treatment of weekly kerbside food-waste collections and is located in Oakham, United Kingdom. The procurement stage is currently at the tender phase, with key deadlines including submission of quotations by noon on 21 August 2025 and the end of the enquiry period on 27 July 2025. The contract, valued at £75,000, is set to begin on 1 March 2026 lasting until 1 March 2028, with a potential renewal for six months. Bidders are evaluated with a 60% price and 40% quality criterion.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for waste-treatment providers, especially small and medium enterprises, seeking growth in the environmental and sanitation services sector. Businesses specialising in refuse disposal and operation of refuse sites would be well-positioned to compete. The focus on delivering economic and social value, along with environmental performance, underscores the potential for businesses to contribute to sustainable waste management solutions while expanding their service footprint. Providers with the capacity to meet the council's requirements will find this an attractive avenue to secure long-term contracts and enhance their market presence. Electronic submissions are facilitated via the ProContract portal, streamlining the application process for interested parties.
