Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, acting as the buying organisation hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is currently in the planning stage for the re-tendering of an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system intended for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's Mental Health and Community Services. This procurement falls under the software package and information systems industry category, with a project value of up to £45.6 million. The completed EPR system must incorporate mobile access and interoperability to enhance service delivery across the region. Key dates for interested parties include a scheduled market engagement on 30th August 2025 and a future notice date set for 1st October 2025. The procurement process is expected to progress to the next phase by November 2025, covering a contract period from 1st November 2025 to 31st March 2032, primarily delivered within the UKL geographic region.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in information systems and software packages to enter a collaboration with a major public authority. Businesses capable of offering cutting-edge digital solutions that integrate mobile access and system interoperability will find this procurement particularly fitting. Engaging with this project could significantly enhance a company's portfolio and establish ongoing partnerships with the NHS in the UK, providing a substantial growth prospect for technology providers looking to cement their reputation in the public health sector.
