Summary of the contracting process

The Natural History Museum in London is currently in the tender stage of a public procurement process titled "Roof Safe Access Specialist Contractor". The project involves the creation of a Framework Agreement for the design and build of roof access safety systems across the museum's various buildings. The procurement falls under the industry category of site-safety equipment and is classified as works. The tender, which is open for competition, has a total estimated value of £3,000,000. The procurement period is set to begin on 1st December 2025, with all works expected to be completed by March 2026. Key deadlines include the tender submission deadline on 25th November 2025, and it is being conducted under the open procurement method. The procurement process adheres to legal basis 2023/54, and interested tenderers are required to sign an NDA through the Delta e-Sourcing portal.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in construction and safety systems to expand their portfolio and demonstrate expertise in developing safety solutions in historical and high-profile locations. Companies with capabilities in design and build contracts, particularly those experienced with museum construction work and safety installations, are well-positioned to compete. SMEs are encouraged to participate. The scope for potential growth is substantial, given the possibility of future projects beyond the immediate financial year, dependant on funding and performance. The establishment of a framework agreement provides ongoing opportunities for contract call-offs, making it ideal for businesses seeking a sustained engagement with The Natural History Museum.

Roof Safe Access Specialist Contractor

Notice Description

The NHM intends to create a Framework Agreement for the Design and Build of roof access safety systems over a period of 3 years, with two optional extensions of 1 year + 1 year. The Framework Agreement will include the ability to call off for a pre-construction services agreement (PCSA) and a JCT Design and Build Contract to deliver construction of the roof access system. Due to funding restrictions, only work in FY2526 is guaranteed and all works must be completed by March 2026. Subject to funding availability in future years and satisfactory performance in the current years' contracts, the NHM will call off on the PCSA and JCT Design and Build Contract for subsequent year's works. To access the documents for this tender exercise, all tenderers will be required to sign an NDA and return this to the Museum for counter signature. This will be made available via the SQ Stage of Delta e-Sourcing. The NDA must be signed by an authorised signatory on behalf of the company and returned to the Museum via the Message Centre of the SQ Stage. Once the NDA has been counter signed, it will be sent back to the tenderer and access to the tender documents will be granted.
