Summary of the contracting process

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), a central public authority in the UK, is conducting a preliminary market engagement for the "Defence Maintenance Accommodation Project - UK2." The project aims to source a supplier to provide responsive repairs, property refurbishment, and various maintenance services for Service Family Accommodation across the UK. The engagement process includes an online briefing scheduled for 15th July 2026, followed by a deadline for expressions of interest on 8th July 2026. The procurement strategy will be developed through this engagement, with the anticipated commencement of procurement in January 2027 and the tender notice expected in February 2027. The procurement stage is currently in the planning phase, with opportunities for engagement structured via Microsoft Teams.

This tender presents substantial business growth opportunities for contractors experienced in public sector repairs and maintenance projects, particularly those skilled in collaboration and customer-focused service delivery. The project value is estimated at £7.92 billion, with contract services including grounds maintenance and refurbishment work. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and specialist providers are encouraged to participate, as the DIO seeks to explore opportunities for diverse business sizes. Providers with a solid track record in similar public sector contracts and a capacity for delivering first-class service are well-suited to compete, offering an avenue for substantial growth within the defence housing maintenance industry.
