Summary of the contracting process

Jo Richardson Community School, located in Dagenham, Essex, has awarded a contract for catering services under the procurement title "Jo Richardson Community School - Catering Tender". This contract, valued at approximately £3.4 million, was procured through an open Competitive Flexible Procedure and is set to commence on 1st August 2026, ending on 31st July 2029, with a possible extension until 2031. The procurement involved a two-stage process, with an emphasis on quality (65%) and price (35%). Olive Dining Ltd has been appointed as the supplier, and the contract requires the delivery of high-quality catering services to the school's 1713 pupils and 220 staff members. The focus on locally sourced ingredients and the flexibility to accommodate the school's specific needs are key aspects of the service. The school upholds a family ethos and is inclined towards proposals that offer best value and innovative service enhancements.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses in the catering industry, particularly those that can combine culinary excellence with efficient management practices. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), like Olive Dining Ltd, stand a good chance of succeeding if they can demonstrate quality, innovative solutions, and cost-effective service. With an annual contract value pegged at £675,000, it offers a lucrative chance for suppliers to expand their business operations, particularly those with the ability to source fresh, local ingredients and manage on-site preparations. Moreover, the school’s openness to creative ideas and willingness to form a partnership can be beneficial for contractors seeking to innovate and provide value-added services. This tender aligns well for companies with a turnover exceeding £1 million who are prepared to meet the specified insurance requirements and uphold the London living wage.
