Summary of the contracting process

The University of Plymouth recently completed a procurement process for "Application Packaging," classified under IT services including consulting, software development, Internet, and support. The procurement, conducted without prior publication, was aimed at supporting both Windows and Apple Mac environments for the university's teaching, learning, and research activities. The contract, valued at £150,000, was awarded on 1st June 2025. Despite the limited procurement method, the award stage has been marked as active, although one of the lots was cancelled. This process primarily covered the UK South West region area UKK41.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for companies specialising in IT services tailored to educational institutions. The contract involved specialist application discovery and packaging services, offering a promising arena for IT firms with expertise in software management across multi-user and disciplinary environments. Large-scale IT service providers, particularly those familiar with the GCloud framework, are well-suited to participate in similar future procurements, as the awarded company, App Tech, showcased its ability to meet the rigorous requirements set by the University of Plymouth.
