Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process conducted by The North Yorkshire Council, as the buyer, involved the award of a contract for the resurfacing of a synthetic football pitch at Scarborough Sports Village. This project, titled "Sports Village Replacement Pitch," falls under the works category and is classified within the industry dealing with repair and maintenance work related to sports facilities (CPV: 45212290). The procurement was completed and included a direct award via the Artificial Grass Pitch Framework, intended to deliver a FIFA Quality Pro standard pitch. This contract, initiated under the tender phase and concluded with an active status, was signed on 6th January 2026 for £290,874.46 GBP. The location for this opportunity is within the UKE region of the United Kingdom.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the sports facility construction and maintenance industry, particularly those specialising in synthetic surfaces. Companies that are pre-approved under existing frameworks like the Artificial Grass Pitch Framework, and possess a track record of compliance with performance standards, are well-suited to engage in such opportunities. The procurement strategy minimised competition by leveraging existing framework agreements, allowing Support in Sport (UK) Ltd, a small to medium-sized enterprise, to secure the contract without a competitive bid process, highlighting the importance of aligning with such frameworks to gain access to similar direct award contracts.
