Summary of the contracting process

Sheffield City Council is planning a procurement process for the "Bikeability Cycle Training 2026" programme, under the services industry category. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a preliminary market engagement notice published on 8th May 2026. Prospective bidders are encouraged to participate in the upcoming tender, as market engagement ends on 22nd May 2026. The goal is to secure a provider capable of delivering cycle training across Sheffield schools, meeting national standards set by the Bikeability Trust. The contract is set to commence on 24th August 2026 for an initial 12-month period, with the possibility of extending annually for up to three years, depending on funding availability.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in education and training services to expand their operations, provided they meet the stringent quality and safeguarding standards required. Companies with Bikeability Trust accreditation, experience in cycle training, and thorough compliance with safety checks will find themselves well-positioned to bid for this contract. Given that the procurement accommodates small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and VCSEs (voluntary, community, and social enterprises), it allows these entities a fair chance to contribute to the safety and mobility development of the youth in Sheffield, thereby opening pathways for growth and reinforcing community engagement.
