Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is planning a procurement process for the "Collection, Marketing, Sale, Recycling & Disposal of Scrap Metal", categorised under services with direct marketing and recovered secondary metal raw materials as key industry classifications. This tender, currently in the planning stage, is set to culminate in a competitive flexible procedure. It is proposed as a Framework Agreement lasting four years, beginning on 1 June 2027 and potentially extending to 30 April 2035. The location for this procurement is in the United Kingdom, with the MOD Bicester as the central point. A future notice is anticipated to be released on 1 September 2026, serving as a key deadline for relevant updates.

This tender presents a notable opportunity for businesses involved in metal recycling, direct marketing services, and environmental waste management to expand their portfolio. Suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), it involves managing scrap materials, promoting sustainable disposal practices, and adhering to strict compliance measures for classified or sensitive assets. Enterprises with expertise in secure and environmentally-friendly recycling processes, as well as those capable of marketing scrap materials to maximise financial returns through gainshare schemes, would find this procurement particularly beneficial.
