Summary of the contracting process

Nottingham City Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the "CPU 8385 Highways Traffic Signals Framework." This initiative falls under the works category, encompassing installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signals within Nottingham. The procurement aims to establish a four-year framework, applicable from 30 June 2026 to 29 June 2030, with a projected total value of £2,000,000 excluding VAT. The council plans to invite up to three contractors to participate, offering open competition through a below-threshold procurement method, as per the Procurement Act 2023. The process is in the early planning stage, so no immediate action from bidders is required, although interested parties are advised to register on Nottingham's e-tendering platform for future updates.

This tender presents valuable opportunities for businesses, particularly those with expertise in traffic signal installation and maintenance services. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are well-suited to compete due to the manageable scale of the project and the requirement for specialised skills. The framework's four-year term ensures long-term collaboration prospects, while the financial scope allows for substantial business engagement in public sector work, contributing to growth in Nottingham and potentially serving as a foothold for further expansion in the infrastructure and public works sectors.
