Summary of the contracting process

Durrington Town Council has announced an open procurement process for the design and construction of a pump track facility at the Recreation Ground in Durrington. This initiative seeks a qualified contractor to deliver a sustainable, inclusive, and safe facility accommodating bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and wheelchairs. The project is classified under the construction and recreational services categories, requiring compliance with industry safety standards. The tender process, structured as an open procedure, commenced in early June 2026, with a submission deadline set for 13th July 2026. The evaluation will conclude by the end of August, followed by a contract commencement in September, aiming for completion within 12 to 16 weeks from the award date.

Companies with a track record in pump track or similar recreational developments are encouraged to apply, particularly those adept in sustainability and community engagement. The estimated contract value falls between £100,000 and £150,000, with scope for innovative solutions that provide value for money. Businesses specialising in durable and low-maintenance construction or those offering local employment and training opportunities stand to benefit significantly. SMEs, particularly those that can demonstrate additional social, economic, or environmental value within the local community, are likely to find this opportunity particularly advantageous.
