Summary of the contracting process

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited is conducting a public procurement process titled "National Wheel Impact Load Detection Renewals Programme," primarily within the industry category of software package and information systems. The procurement is in the planning stage and is currently at the stage of preliminary market engagement as of 30th July 2026. Interested parties should respond by 17th September 2026 by submitting the requested documentation via email. The main procurement category is services, and the procurement is part of the utilities special regime. This national initiative, with significant locations in the United Kingdom, aims to explore potential new technologies for a Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) system in anticipation of the renewal needs, as current systems are nearing end-of-life.

This procurement offers substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in software, industry-specific solutions, and information technology services. It presents a chance for suppliers to engage with Network Rail, potentially shaping the future requirement strategy and showcasing customisation capabilities of available technology. Companies with expertise in these areas and an interest in large-scale infrastructure projects will find this tender particularly suitable. Participating in this stage of the procurement process may lead to further tendering opportunities as Network Rail advances its sourcing strategy and qualification platform for interested suppliers.
