Summary of the contracting process

Resilience Multi-Academy Trust is procuring a residential Year 7 outdoor education and adventurous activity programme for students from its academies. The provider will support transition into secondary education and develop resilience, confidence, teamwork, independence and positive relationships between students and staff. The requirement covers eight residential camps, each lasting two and a half days, with accommodation, catering, activities, instructors, equipment and site facilities included. Each camp must accommodate up to 120 students and 14 Trust colleagues, with approximately 100 to 140 participants per residential. Delivery will take place across England, including the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands and West Midlands. The buying organisation is Resilience Multi-Academy Trust, based at Featherstone Academy in Featherstone.

The process reached tender: the Trust invited offers through a below-threshold open competition. Tender responses were to be submitted electronically by email, using the subject heading ‘Tender Response: Y7 Resilience Camp’, by 11 September 2026 at 5pm. The contract period set out for the requirement runs from 5 October 2026 to 5 October 2027. The total estimated value is £150,000 excluding VAT, or £180,000 including VAT. There is one lot. Tenders are evaluated on quality at 70% and price at 30%. The residential programme itself is scheduled across four consecutive weeks in September 2027: 6–10 September, 13–17 September, 20–24 September and 27 September–1 October, with the dates stated as fixed by the Trust.

This opportunity suits outdoor education providers able to deliver complete residential programmes at substantial scale, rather than individual activity sessions. Suppliers need suitable accommodation, catering, outdoor and adventurous activities, qualified instructional staff, equipment and site facilities, coordinated across eight back-to-back programmes. They also need the operational capacity to host up to 120 students and 14 Trust colleagues per programme, while managing approximately 100 to 140 participants during each half-week residential. Relevant experience should include working with Year 7 or similar secondary-school groups and delivering structured activities that build resilience, confidence, teamwork and independence. The procurement is identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community or social enterprises, and participation is reserved to organisations located in the United Kingdom.
