Leicester City Council is exploring the market for two-way digital radios and related maintenance and support. The expected contract period is 31 May 2027 to 30 May 2030, with a possible extension to 30 May 2032 and renewal available. The lot is marked as suitable for SMEs and voluntary, community or social enterprises. The planned procurement is above the relevant threshold.

The future requirement should suit suppliers with established capability in two-way digital radio systems, radio network design or deployment, equipment supply, software integration, and maintenance and technical support. Businesses able to provide an end-to-end service, from supplying suitable radio equipment and related systems through to ongoing servicing, fault response and user support, are likely to be well placed to contribute. Specialist radio manufacturers, authorised resellers, communications technology integrators, managed-service providers and maintenance contractors may all have relevant expertise. The council has expressly identified the requirement as suitable for SMEs and voluntary, community or social enterprises, so participation is not limited to large national suppliers. This engagement is an opportunity to help shape the future requirement and prepare evidence of products, support models, service capability and relevant delivery experience before the procurement reaches the market.
