The General Medical Council (GMC) is planning to buy inclusive career development services to support career progression for underrepresented groups. Its current intention is to divide the work into two areas: an organisation-wide equality, diversity and inclusion programme, and an inclusive leadership development programme. This is a training and professional development requirement. Delivery is intended to cover the United Kingdom. It explored programme design and delivery, mentoring, coaching and sponsorship, measurement of participant outcomes and impact, accessibility, inclusivity and participant support. Suppliers with experience designing and delivering organisation-wide equality, diversity and inclusion programmes or inclusive leadership development may be well placed to prepare for the future procurement. The GMC has marked the requirement as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community and social enterprises, so these suppliers may also find the planned work relevant.

We held virtual meetings with six (6) suppliers as part of our pre-market engagement for the Inclusive Career Programmes procurement. The discussions explored market capability, delivery models, commercial considerations and approaches to supporting career progression for underrepresented groups. Topics discussed included: Programme design and delivery approaches Mentoring, coaching and sponsorship models Measuring participant outcomes and programme impact Accessibility, inclusivity and participant support The output of the pre-market engagement was that the market can support a range of inclusive career development programmes and that our requirements are suitable to market capabilities.
