Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, initiated by Natural Resources Wales, is focused on the "Direct Production Harvesting - Dynamic Purchasing System" for services related to environmental protection. This contract is part of the forestry industry and covers locations across North, Mid, and South Wales. The procurement stage is marked as complete, with the Dynamic Purchasing System procured under a selective procurement method, specifically through a restricted procedure. Contracts have been signed for an overall value of £36 million, with specific award dates including 11 February 2020 and 9 May 2020. The services included range from felling and processing trees to vegetation management and are delivered based on needs across various sites.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs in the forestry and environmental services sector, particularly those with expertise in tree harvesting, processing, and management services. Businesses specialising in manual and mechanised felling, winching, and vegetation clearance are encouraged to explore participation in future stages of this Dynamic Purchasing System. Given the emphasis on quality and price criteria in the awards, companies that can demonstrate high-quality service provision while maintaining competitive pricing will be well-positioned to secure contracts and enhance their growth prospects in the region.
