Live Aircraft for Test Bed

CARDIFF UNIVERSITY

This public procurement record has 2 releases in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Cardiff University as the buying organisation, seeking a "Live Aircraft for Test Bed" to support the DragonFLY-EX project. This initiative aims to design and develop a hybrid propulsion system for regional aircraft at their Hydrogen and Electric Propulsion Innovation Centre in St Athan, Wales. The tender process, categorised under goods in the aircraft and spacecraft industry, is currently in the Award stage, having recently awarded the contract on 26 May 2022. The project budget is set at £110K (excluding VAT), with the requirement that the aircraft must be located on the UK mainland and must pass a final inspection before the contract completion.

This opportunity presents significant potential for businesses involved in the aerospace sector, particularly those specialising in the sale of second-hand aircraft that meet specific criteria such as turboprop engines and substantial operational history. Companies offering aircraft that have been in operation within the last two years, as well as those with robust maintenance records and certifications for UK operation, would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Engaging with Cardiff University could also foster further collaboration and research partnerships in cutting-edge aviation technology.
